BIOSOILWASHING: Humic substances as natural surfactants for soil remediation.

The humic substances (HS) may act as reliable natural surfactants for the remediation of polluted
soils. The NMR investigation revealed the occurrence of close interactions between dissolved HS
and contaminants. The application of soil washing with water solution of HS on different heavily
contaminated soils outlined an efficient removal of organic chemicals and heavy metals.
